A young woman who unwittingly became a nightclub sensation has re-emerged into the spotlight after seven years, recreating some of the internet's most iconic memes. Lucia Gorman became an overnight hit in 2018 when her image from a night at Milk Club Edinburgh spread like wildfire online, seeing her remembered as 'bored club girl'.
The famous photo, capturing her disinterested expression as a mate chats in her ear, has been shared millions of times, cementing its place in meme royalty. Now 24, Lucia has returned to the scene to mimic the very pose that shot her to online fame, along with other venerated viral sensations such as Harry Maguire's Put the Bins Out and the universal Confused Math Lady.
Speaking with she explained what she was thinking at the time of the snap, saying: "I feel like a lot of women in the probably really understand, and while he wasn't being horrible, I think girls in clubs get the brunt of men just explaining things that you don't need to hear."

Lucia, now an assistant brand manager at Premier Foods, admitted she finds it tough to replicate that now-iconic expression. "I really struggle to do the face that I was doing in it," she said. "While it looks really staged, it wasn't at all. I was so off-guard that I don't even know how to do that face like people do", reports .
With a preference for smiling over sulking, she joked: "I can try, but I just prefer to smile. I find it quite hard to do the moody, grumpy, uninterested expressions, but maybe I should just get Patrick back in my ear again and we can try to recreate it." Back when the photo first did the rounds in 2018, it quickly earned the title 'most relatable nightclub photo in history'.
Lucia opened up to Cosmo about her sudden internet fame, expressing a desire to escape the spotlight. She admitted: "I think I just wanted to go home." The young student, then aged 19, initially found the viral attention amusing but soon felt the pressure as her image became a global meme sensation.
She reflected on the uncontrollable nature of the internet, saying: "I know everyone says it, and I sound like a mum, but what goes online... you can't really stop it." Lucia lamented the loss of control over her own image, stating: "Even if I wanted to get those pictures back now, I never could. It's not up to me, really.
"It's my face, but I don't own it." In a twist of fate, Lucia found herself in the limelight once again in 2019 with another nightclub photo that went viral.
This time, social media users quipped, 'You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain', as the picture captured her leaning on a man clutching a bag of Doritos, echoing her previous viral moment. Lucia has now partnered with Samsung to highlight how the company's new Best Face on the new Galaxy A56 5G can help prevent common photo mishaps.
In a survey of 2,000 Brits, blinking (36%), awkward facial expressions when saying 'cheese' (26%) and people standing in front of each other (21%) were included the list of most common group photo fails. The research also revealed half of Brits (50%) admit to taking the time to edit the photos before posting it online and a third would feel slightly comfortable uploading something unedited.
